June 2004

Dear All,

We had a really relaxed, informative meeting this month. Melanie Womack must be the only person in the world to make Tax seem warm and fuzzy!

Just a quick up date about a couple of issues that I agreed to sort out at that meeting:

Update on our link with Somerset Chamber of Commerce:

I have spoken to Ian Weston this week. You may remember he has taken over from Stephanie as head of the chamber. (We met him before in his previous guise as head of Somerset Skills Support Project).

To tidy up the proposed arrangement between Village Business and the Chamber we have agreed the following:

If you would like to be included in the Chamber's Newsletters which feature their upcoming events then please email Ian direct and you will be included in their electronic distribution list automatically in future.

Ian's email address is: ianweston @ somerset-chamber.co.uk

If you then wish to attend an event you will be treated as a "member" for any attendance charges etc and all you will need to do is let them know that you belong to Village Business, Bishops Lydeard.

On a point of interest, I spoke to him about creating a forum for the rural networks to meet and he did indicate that this was on his agenda and believed that this was within their remit. So, watch this space!

And lastly , an amusing piece of news.

I must share with you something that made me smile this morning! I received a letter from the House of Commons. It was from Adrian Flook, MP asking to meet up to discuss rural networks with me.

"To hear more about the work you do to support rural businesses and to hear of any problems you may encounter."
